About this game
Extreme Gear Shift Racing is a 3D driving game where the real challenge is hitting your gear shifts at the right moment. You work through 11 levels that get harder as you go, either alone or with a friend on the same screen. Shift while the needle sits in the green zone and your car surges forward, which is often the difference between leading the pack and eating dust.
There are several sports cars to choose from, and more unlock as you progress. Some sections of each track are marked for drifting, and a clean slide through them rewards you with a boost you can fire off on the straights. A short tutorial at the start walks you through the basics so you are not thrown in blind.
On a computer you steer with the keyboard, while phones and tablets get on-screen buttons for steering, shifting, drifting and boost. Nothing needs to be installed, so you can open it in your browser and jump straight into your first race.
How to play
Press W or the Up Arrow to accelerate, and S or the Down Arrow to brake or reverse. Steer with A and D or the Left and Right Arrows. Hit Shift while the needle is in the green zone for a perfect gear change, and use the Drift and Boost buttons when they appear. On mobile, everything is controlled with the on-screen buttons.
