About this game
Night Lake is a quiet fishing game set after dark, with just enough mystery to keep you curious. You play a lone angler in a small wooden boat, rowing across black water with only a lantern for company. Mist, reeds and moonlight set the mood, and there is never a timer pushing you along.
Casting is only the start. When the float dips you have to strike at the right moment, then work the reel while watching the line, because too much tension snaps it and the fish is gone. Bring your catch back to the dock to sell it for coins and experience, then spend that money on better bait, rods, lines, reels, keepnets and charms.
Every night hands you three quests, and each new species fills another page of your field guide. You can fish three very different places: the moonlit forest water of Night Lake, the foggy mangroves and ruins of Black Bayou, and the bass-filled marsh of Hollow Reeds. It is free to play in your browser and suits a slow, relaxed session.
How to play
Use W and S to row forward and back, and A and D to turn the boat. Hold the left mouse button on the water to aim and release to cast. When the float goes under, click or press Space to strike, then hold to reel in. During a fight, lean the rod with A and D. Press P to pause. On mobile, the left stick rows and the right stick aims.
