About this game
Word Ladder is a single-player word puzzle where you change one letter at a time to turn a starting word into a target word. You are shown a beginning word and a goal, and it is up to you to find the chain of steps that connects them.
Every move swaps just one letter, and the new word has to be a real word. Wander down the wrong path and you can trap yourself with no valid moves left, so thinking a few steps ahead pays off. Shorter, cleaner solutions earn you bigger rewards, which gives each puzzle a satisfying efficiency challenge.
The 2D visuals keep things simple and calm, letting the focus stay on the letters and the logic. It is a good fit for quick brain-training sessions or a relaxed break. You can play it for free right in your browser without downloading anything.
How to play
Pick a letter in the current word and swap it for another, making sure the result is a valid word. Repeat until you reach the target word. On touch screens tap a letter to change it; on desktop, click to select.
