About this game
Ultimate Chess brings the classic game of chess to your browser, ready to play in seconds with no downloads or sign-up needed. Pick Player vs Player to share one device with a friend and take turns across the board, or challenge the computer in Player vs AI mode. The AI comes in three difficulty levels, Easy, Medium and Hard, so you can start gently and work your way up as your skills improve.
The full rulebook is included. Check and checkmate, castling, and pawn promotion all work as you would expect, and a move history panel lets you review the game as it unfolds. Sound effects add a bit of atmosphere to every capture and check, and a turn indicator keeps you clear on whose move it is at all times.
When a game ends, press Restart to begin a fresh match with the same mode and difficulty, or use Back to Menu to switch things up. It is a simple, focused way to sharpen your openings, practice endgames, or just enjoy a relaxed round of chess.
How to play
Click a piece to select it, then click a green square to move there or a red square to capture. Use Restart to begin a new game with the same settings, or Back to Menu to change the mode or difficulty.
